§80D — Health insurance (mediclaim) deduction

Section 80D · as of Senior-citizen ₹50,000 limit w.e.f. AY 2019-20

Deduction for health-insurance premium: up to ₹25,000 for self + spouse + dependent children (₹50,000 if the eldest insured is a senior citizen), PLUS up to ₹25,000 for parents (₹50,000 if a parent is a senior citizen). Preventive health check-up up to ₹5,000 within these limits. Maximum ₹1,00,000. OLD regime only.
